Undo the hose clamp or whatever holds the intake pipe onto the throttle body and pull it off a little. If there's oil in there you may have a turbo problem. Have you done the latest PCV update? Non-synthetic oil has a more difficult time getting past the turbo seals so you may have had the seals in the turbo worn out already but the oil wasn't getting past. As soon as you put the synthetic in it may have been able to get enough though to create visible smoke. I know when my turbo was going I was desperate to get rid of the smoke but could not spend the money to replace it at the time, my knowledgable indy recommended switching to non-synthetic because it wouldn't smoke as much. I never got around to trying it because within a couple weeks my turbo went, and I mean went, so I had to replace it.
