Sorry don't have a solution for Sony, but if it helps, my plan was to hook up bluetooth for the signal and utilize a PDA.
This past weekend I took apart the GPS to see if it's feasible for hacking. Unfortunately my model is different from the internet instructions.
Bottom line is I will abandon the Motorola GPS and utilize the antenna for my bluetooth puck (HP navigation w/ bluetooth and PDA with iGuidance).
My GPS receiver has a MMCX jack for external antenna, I just need to identify the type of plug in the 2002 9-5 wagon antenna and get a pigtail wire. For power I'll need to find a way to hook up a way to tap into the Onstar source. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.
The advantage of this setup...always-on GPS receiver to eliminate start time. No more recharging the receiver. Portable PDA is more useful than dedicated GPS.
To Techies out there. What is the form of the plug on the GPS unit? TNC, SMA, N? Any suggestions on tapping power in the harness?
BTW, I know I can buy an external antenna on eBay, but I'd like to use the shark fin if possible.
