Yes those plastic brake booster vacuum tubes start to get very brittle by now.
The 99 9-5 V6 is P/N 4688206
Whenever I do any work around that area, I disconnect the tube from the manifold and also from the vacuum pump on later models to give me a little bit more movement and help me from not breaking them.
Doing the coolant thermostat or starter on a 4 cyl engine, you are really begging to break them if not careful.
