Having replaced the exhaust system cat back, I can assure you that the studs would have busted if you attempted to remove the nuts. And they give up pretty easily, too. Saab has learned a thing since the 9000 - the 9000 studs were mounted to the cat end, on the 9-5, the studs are mounted on the exhaust pipe end. If they're mounted on the cat, when you replace the exhaust you then find yourself removing the cat too so you can knock out the broken-off studs. Why do I know this?
