Hi Phil,
I would expect the batteries to 'work' just as you described. I don't think you would see an issue in day-to-day usage; however, you probably will have a problem if the siren module is triggered without the main battery hooked up. In that case, the 'SE' batteries simply won't source enough DC current to do the job. It's possible they'll simply harmless not work, but it's also possible those batteries might fry themselves in the process of trying to work. It's hard to say without knowing the specifics of the circuit.
