Front Seatbelts Don't Retract Easily Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 09:04:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Ever since I bought my 2001 9-5 Sedan one of my complaints has been the front seat belts' springy-ness. If you unlatch the belt and get out of the car, the belt will not retract unless you feed it into the slot. It's not like it's locked or anything, but there's very little tension. This has lead to a few instances of a passenger shutting the large plastic clip-slide in the door jamb, leading to a very disgusting sound and a very nervous me. Does anyone else have this problem and maybe an easy solution, like lubing the spindle? It's not a safety concern, the belts work fine in use, but it's getting annoying to half to reach over and recoil the belt for my passenger after they exit the car. The back seats are great though, let go and the thing zips right back into the hole.
