Those springy new clamps are in my eyes pretty good since they do clamp on where after the hose gets old.
They can have a hard time thought to clamp the old hose if you place it in the same groove as last time.
If possible, you can cut off a piece of the hose so that the clamp gets a new surface to press on.
The clamps though DEMANDS a special tool to be operated with ease. If using whatever plier handy, you can easily slip or overstress the clamp and make life miserable.
