Hey Jim -
I have some knowledge on some of these, so here goes.....
1) I have the S&B cotton filter from genuinesaab in my stock air box with larger inlet snorkel. I plan on replacing it with the 2006 Saab paper filter. Like the K&N, the S&B requires periodic re-oiling with stories of shortened MAF life. I never noticed an improvement when I installed it, but I did notice an improvement with mid-range performance when I installed the larger snorkel.
2) Yes! I have a Purolator Pure One PL20195 (PT Cruiser Turbo) sitting in the garage right now for my next oil change.
3) The OEM rating for my 2000 lpt was V-rated tires. I am currently running W-rated in summer (just happened that way) and H-rated winter tires (much more secure than Q-rated on dry expressways).
4) IIRC the advertised top speed for my 2000 lpt with Automatic was 136mph, Manual was 138mph, and Aero was 155mph. Car & Driver actually achieved 154mph when they tested an Aero back in 2000/2001.
5) Don't know about a Rev Limiter. My auto box always shifts before 6000 RPM. Yes, even with 219,000 miles I see engine speeds in excess of 5k regularly!
6) Don't know about factory MPG claims. I may have the window sticker from my car around here somewhere.
7) I have achieved 35MPG when doing a steady-state 70MPH on long expressway trips during temperate weather. I would typically achieve 30MPG on my daily 95 mile commute which is primarily expressways. Stop & Go traffic, running the A/C, cold temperatures, etc., all drop the mileage.
8) No experience with any Stage of ECU tuning.
I hope this helps.
