For goodness sakes, read on EVERY SAAB BB on rear brakes from at least 1978 (Model 99's) to the present, and this is no surprise...
The calipers very slowly and almost imperceptibly stop braking....from the 99's to the c900's to the 9000's to the NG900's---IN FACT, there was a SAAB bulletin on a 1998 Turbo CV that I once owned to remove and clean the rear calipers if you lived in a winter climate....
What about this is a mystery? MOST owners just do the front brakes, because of the almighty $$$.
If you had the rears inspected at, say, 75k, you'd already be ahead of the rest of the 9-5 ownership population.
Most owners say to mechanics "just do the front brakes for now"....oh, the rear pads are only 1/2 worn....I'll worry about it later....
Now.....FAST FORWARD to your current position......until you get your rear brakes fully repaired, it is impossible to predict what you'd like out of the entire brake system.
You'll be very impressed with the end results....Thank you for trusting my input....
