Jim,
I have had similar battery woes on my 2003 Wagon. The original was replaced per the service record after about 18 months before the lease expired and the start of my ownership. Then the battery expired again about mid 2007, I put it down to not using the vehicle everyday. Then low and behold it expired again in Jan 2008 with dead cells, Advanced Auto replaced it no problems. To me there was a problem and after quite some checking I discovered an amps leak across the fuse for the engine management system, this lead to my opening every connection under the bonnet and finally the big plug on the fire wall. When I put this back together my amps loss was deminished to 0.09 amps and since then touch wood I have had no more flat batteries. I do not trust the car to hold its charge and to combat this I have pulled the fuse on the daytime running lights to hopefully let it charge up better. It seems that the battery could never have been fully up to go flat in 4 days of being left under the car port. This sounds like your problem as well.
