How much of a die-hard D-I-Y'er are you?
How badly do you want to prove that you can replace a failed battery without buying a new siren?
If the answers to both of the above are a 10 or 11 on a 1 to 10 scale, then search for Marcin's recent post on how to install a remote battery pack (with 4 AA lithium cells) in the engine compartment to provide emergency power to the siren.
Any score on the above questions less than 10, either buy a new replacement siren (price has dropped to the mid $200 range), or have the siren disabled via the Tech-II by your Dealer/Indy.
I installed the CR17335SE batteries in Oct/Nov of 2006 and they recently failed. I have now installed the remote battery pack folowing Marcin's posting. Clearly, I am one of the 11 point answer people.
The smartest method may be either of the final two options.
