My 2003 9-5 2.3lpt reached 100k miles as I pulled into the driveway last night. I figure it has finally been broken in and has hit it's stride. I bought the car with a CPO warranty in 2005 and put 52k of my own miles on it. It is as loaded as a Linear can get with both the Touring and Executive packages. A great touring car that made it a pleasure to drive when we moved from CA to CT. Since I've owned it, the following has been done, all covered under CPO:
1. Water pump replaced
2. Coolant t-stat replaced
3. Coolant sensor replaced
4. SID replaced
5. Xenon bulbs replaced (at 50k miles)
6. The washer fluid tank cap replaced
Not bad for 100k miles. I'm not sure if the cost of the CPO was covered by the repairs above but the peace of mind was worth it. The car has been kept up and running by closely following the regular maintainence schedule and oil changes every 4k-5k miles using the recommended semi-syn oil. I've had the car serviced by the dealer while under CPO and two recalls have been taken care of. Now I will be doing much of the regular service myself. I think I'll now switch to full synthetic oil, still changing it about every 4k to 5k miles.
Upcoming replacements will be rear shocks and the 3 pullies. I look forward to putting on another 100k miles. The car still runs like new, no indications at all of sludge. Turbo still runs strong with no indications of wear and potential failure.
Now that I'm out of warranty I'm thinking of taking advantage of a few of the many upgrades and mods available such as BSR ECU upgrade, upgrade the brakes and upgrading the shocks to Bilstien or Koni. Let me know if there are any items I should look for to keep it running for the next 100k miles.
Cheers and happy Saabing!
