Get off the fence and just do it Posted by B Millar [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: (HELP!) Heard from dealer again about 03 Arc (take two), Joseph, Fri, 14 Mar 2008 14:01:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Something obviously keeps dragging you back to this darn car, and not that I don't like answering your questions, but just go for it! This behavior is not abnormal for most car dealerships. They are running a business trying to find an "idiot" to sell this car to and make maxiumum profit. Unfortunately for them you're not an idiot, and they have to work with you a little. If you're looking to spend less than $13k on this type of car with 88k miles on it the thing is not going to be perfect. Who cares if the SID displays time for service? It means nothing, it's just displayed after a certain mileage. Holding the clear button yourself for 15 seconds is not a big deal to get rid of it. If the SID is missing pixels it WILL be covered under the CPO warranty. If they're offering to do the 60k mile service for free JUMP ON IT, MAN!! Even if they're splitting it with you, I'd still do it. It's not like marriage where by buying this car the people at the dealership become your inlaws and you have to potentially deal with them for the rest of your life. Let them do the 60k mile service, pay them, and be done with them! I know you're slightly concerned about the previous owner's maintenance habits, but between buying it and when the CPO runs out will give you plenty of time to get to know the car and figure out what should be done before it runs out. Besides, as long as the timing belt doesn't snap, the V6 can take a bit more of a "beating" than the 4-cyl when it comes to lack of maintenance (no oil sludge). From what you've been posting I feel like you're reading too far into this dealership's habits. When you're looking at cars with this kind of mileage and price, you can't be so picky. Start looking at the positive, like the cosmetic condition of it, all those features you like...
