Octane requirements are lower at high altitude, which is the primary reason why we usually have a max octane of 91 here in Colorado. It probably has something to do with less oxygen in the air, no matter how much you compress it. So you out-of-staters need not worry; your cars will run just as well on 91 octane here as they do on 93 octane at sea level. It's still fun, however, with sophisticated knock sensors like Saab's system, to run the tank almost dry, and then get some of the 100 octane unleaded racing gas that is available at a few stations here for about $6.50 per gallon (Phillips/Conoco station at 32nd & Wadsworth in Wheat Ridge, western suburb of Denver, about 2 miles south of I-70). Whee!
