But the heater control valve is a known, it will happen before 100,000 miles kind of failure. Look down from the center of the firewall and if you see the signs of coolant that has baked on the exhaust and cat it is very very likely coming from the heater control valve.
I went through all that torture of is a headgasket? Why don't I see coolant on the garage floor? Where is the coolant going?
My indy said heater control valve. This site said heater control valve. And that was it.
By the way the leak apparently is the "O" ring seal inside the valve. Aftermoving in and out a few thousand times, it fails and leaks internally. I think it is worse on hot days when you have the A/C going all the time.
