Ron: NOt to beat that deat horse too much more, but I think that you have to remember what that speed rating means and also to realte to the speeds that you can actually drive here, both from a safety standpoint, and also,a legal one. Considering that an H rated tire is fully capable of sustaining speeds that are way above our highest allowable speed limit, how much is this likely to matter in everyday driving?
I personally would not have done this either, and would have chosen a premium Z rated tire to take andantage of some of the other superior engineering and construction techniques that come with a premium product, but I guess since I try to drive at or very close to legal speeds, I do question the issue of basing a tire choice on the sole parameter of speed rating, when that rating is about two to three times the speeds that we are likely to be driving.
I believe that manufacturers choose these tires as much for catering to our sensitive egos as for their ability to handle these super legal speeds.
Again, Not a major criticism of your point, but more in defense of Al's choice as being a totally safe one.
