There are three cheap fixes for the alarm sounding.
One is to remove the alarm module. The alarm system will not work and you will have to clear the Service Theft Alarm message from the SID each time you start the car.
Two is replace the batteries. Everything should function correctly until the batteries need to be replaced again - probably 2-5 years.
Three is to remove the batteries and put the module back in the car. I have not tried this, but someone posted earlier today saying that the alarm system will function if you do this (no alarm if the car batter is dead and you will still have to clear the Check Theft Alarm message on the SID each time you start the car).
