I've installed a couple of them on the driver's side of my previous 9-5. Because of a bad knee, brushing against it while getting in and out was unavoidable.
Replacement is a 10 minute DIY job.
TO REMOVE:
1) Remove the transom. It lifts off.
2) Note inside versus outside and location of the end. Simply wrap your hand around it and gently pull; it'll all come off easily.
TO INSTALL:
1) Note the location of the end; start there.
2) Press the new one on.
3) Press the transom back on.
Look at the other door as a model.
