According to the Hayne's manual and as attested to by CY below in this thread, replacing the water pump is an extensive project requiring a great deal of disassembly.
When I asked my indie for a labor quote, he said about an hour. Not much more difficult than replacing the belt tensioner assembly (which I just did myself). He said you just essentially pull the old pump and insert the new one.
I fear Hayne's and CY are right, but I hope the indie is right! What is your experience?
FYI - Haynes says 1)drain coolant 2)remove air hose and MAF sensor 3)remove drive belt 4)remove crankcase vent hose 5)disconnect wire from turbo boost pressure control valve 6)unbolt engine lifting eye 7)disconnect hoses from wastegate valve 8)disconnect turbo bypass pipe and valve 9)remove heat shield from exhaust man. 10)disconnect crankcase vent hose from quick release coupling 11)remove turbo inlet pipe 12) remove power stearing pump but leave hoses connected 13)several more steps here that describe removing the water pump itself.
