the best but costly way is to vat the engine block and head. the next best is to "wire" through the drilled holes. I use 1.5 mm dia. music wire with a small dental bit silver soldered to the end. If this will go through then you can be relatively assured that the passage way is cleared. Most oil passages are about 3 mm dia. or larger. The interior of the crank must be cleaned too. A few of the drilled passageways are intersection drilled and plugged. These will present a little of a problem so use your wire as far as possible and then high pressure air and solvent flush. It would be wise to replace the pump if it shows any score marks. remove the oil pressure sensor and flush both directions. Remove timng chain tensioner and clean. when cleaning the head no need to remove the valves just solvent blast the springs and clean the follower oil supply holes. Cleaning a sludged engine is a pretty good job as the entire engine must be dismantled. After "wiring" all passage ways, flush with high pressure air and solvent. When you are through you will have essentially a fully overhauled engine since all rotating and reciprocating parts will have been replaced. There are four undersize big end and main bearings available for reground and polished shafts they go in increments of about 0.25 mm and up to a 1.0 mm (max). Remove and replace all piston rings and clean the groves and oil holes carefully. There is a small oil hole in the small end gudgeon hole. I wish you good success my friend. Keep on SAABin!
