I just cleaned it myself before sunset. Used baking sodea and water and rinsed with water. Terminal clamp wasn't pitted it just looked really really bad but it looks okay now.
Since it was on loosely due to the faulty bottom piece that has the broken tab, there was a lot of junk and leaves under the battery so I cleaned all that too.
I also used a $5 "memory settings saver" from Walmart, just a 9v battery that you plug into the cig lighter, and it saved all my radio and seat favorites.
I undid the clean negatie terminal first, and rehooked it up last, but it still made a spark. I think that's normal but it is still disconcerting (I'm not good with cars yet per se, hoping to change that!).
