My opinion from personal experience... Yes, rear tires are prone to cup. I did this on a 9000 many years ago.....by not rotating the tires front to rear.
Jumping forward to 2000, I put 280K miles on that 9-5.....and never had a tire show any signs of cupping. However, I rotated them front to rear EVERY 5K MILES.
Based upon my experience and that shared by others, rotate your tires front to rear every 5K miles, and keep them inflated appropriately.
