knocking noise in front (kind of long)

I recently started driving my 03 9-5 Aero for real...previously my wife was commuting in it 20 miles a day, now I am doing 80 miles a day....

What kind of maintenance/precautions should I take to not kill my car besides regular oil changes? the car has now 73K (I got it at 50K)

I previously asked about using winter mode in stop and go driving...I have to report that I do use it and it works great...I try to avoid stating on incline situations with it on though, and I wait for a full stop before switching back and forth...I find it more convenient than the paddle shifting since the gears don't circulate back and forth.

Recently I started noticing a "knocking" noise coming from the front suspension...It's kind of odd and I will try to explain to the best of my ability...I start my commute home with stop and go and by the end of the route it turns into normal hwy driving. When I take the off ramp and go over little bumps on the road I can hear knocking like noise coming from the front of the car. At a complete stop, I can turn the steering wheel and hear it. When I start driving again, and running over any bumps or imperfections on the road, the noise is there.

In my opinion is not an engine or steering noise (although it could be steering), it's coming from the suspension. I don't notice the noise after hwy driving conditions (constant speed, little to none stop and go) or even briefly driving in the city.

Can anyone shed some light??
