2007 with Xenon's and inboard halogens Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] (#114) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Herb Hirsch) on Fri, 16 May 2008 17:17:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yes, I did it it. My 2007 9-5 Aero now has Xenon's and inboard halogens.
Like everyone else with a 2006 or later 9-5 with xenons, it had no inboard halogens for the flash-to-pass function when fuse 35 is removed to disable the xenon DRL function. Model year 2005 and earlier had both xenons and inboard halogens to support flash-to-pass when fuse 35 was removed.
Using the schematics in the WIS (and the EPC at times) I was able to compare the xenon circuit design of 2005 and earlier, 2006 and later, and the design used outside of the US.
The wiring for the halogen bulb was wired into the same circuit used outside of the US. Wiring and fuses were exactly the same for the US and non-US design. I only had to wire in the bulb socket and install the bulb (H7 55W).
Functions added include:
1. Flash-to-pass when the headlights are off (DRL disabled, fuse 35 removed)
2. Flash-to-pass when the headlights are on: The screen is lifted to provide the xenon high beam temporarily AND the inboard halogen high beams are also lit.
3. Additional high beam: When the xenon high beams are on the inboard halogens are also lit.
If any of you plan to remove and modify your headlights on a 2006 and later 9-5, send me an email and I'll write up the details.
