Read many opinions on recommended combinations/brands of winter tires (not specifiacally from here) about all seasons OK and others say no way must have snow tires... have long winter seaons.. I never had to deal with changing tires for winter in my life, trucks suv's always had all seasons... not sure if I want to have tires/wheels to add to storage clutter but want nice ride year round and safe winter driving.. the car doesn't have all seasons now, has "FUZION HRI" brand tires on the original 5 spoke 16" rims.. never heard of the brand?.. almost down to wear bears so probably only 50% tread left?? either way will have to get new tires soon.. can't afford Catallic (or SAAB!!)level tires..
Others say original rims and 16" size OK with snows others say need 15 inch rims (steel cuz they are cheap?)with snows.. also recommends on specific tires..
Any Mainers or other northern harsh winter dwellers with real world trial and error experience have opinions recommendatiosn on this? Want great winter and all season ride but can't afford to break the bank doing it.. also don't want to ruin factory rims but if clean often can they handle the salt? sorry to dampen summer spirits but can't start planning too early here..
