I can't help you on the compatibility issue, but I would like to comment on the "buying of main" caps part.
I worked in the engine remanufacturing industry for many years, and main caps are not interchangeable from block to block, without having machine work done to the block (it will need align bored/honed).
I'm not sure what you mean by the main caps being "cracked," but in the event that someone offers you new main caps, keep in mind that they will not just bolt on, and you can call it good. Also, if they are literally cracked, the block is probably damaged beyond repair.
The same goes for rod caps. You cannot interchange the rod caps from rod to rod, without have machine work done. Some manufacturers (I'm not sure about Saab) stamp the rods and caps with numbers, so you can't mix them up. Back in the 70s, Mopar used "fruits" in some engines. You had to match apples to apples, grapes to grapes and etc. (cute, huh?)
Your best bet is to find a new block. Blocks with spun mains are often salvageable, but it is possible that the heat generated from the spun bearing damaged the block permanently.
