A/C Pressures from the WIS -- 421 psi Is OK??? Posted by Joe [Email] ![]() ![]() |
The air conditioning on my 99 9-5 2.3 wasn't very cool, although it cooled somewhat and the compressor came on. I thought I would add some R134a since I've done it before on other cars and have decent gauges. Out of curiosity I checked the WIS for what it said about proper pressures. Two bits of info were surprising: One, the DICE unit apparently can give the pressure readings, I don't know what equipment is needed to get this but thought it interesting. Second, the pressures they gave were much higher than I am familiar with. To paraphrase, the radiator fan kicks into high when the pressure hits 18 bar, the compressor starts at between 22 and 24 bar and cuts out between 27 and 29 bar. WOA Baby that's 421 psi??!!! Is this right? I have about 260 psi right now and thought that was, from previous cars, reaching an upper limit....
