The batteries are probably dead in your siren.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Weird Service Anti-Theft Alarm message, Kin, Thu, 5 Jun 2008 21:41:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Take the car back to the Dealer and have them diagnose the Theft Alarm system again. If the batteries are dead, request/instruct them to:
1) Turn off the capability within the SID to display the "Service Theft Alarm". If they say your car's SID doesn't have this capability (some apparently don't), then ask them to do step #2.
2) Disable the siren unit in the TWICE. This will cause your horn to beep rather than the siren to chirp with each lock/unlock.
They will probalby want to sell you a new siren for over $400, but it is also possible some other component in the Anti-theft System has failed, such as a door sensor, hood sensor, or break-glass sensor. Steps #1 and #2 apply only to the dead batteries scenario which seems to be the most common.
