Fixed both window rattles today Posted by NJ-PA Don [Email] (#1221) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NJ-PA Don) on Fri, 6 Jun 2008 15:23:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I followed the posting from Steve H
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-5/index.html?bID=112299.
and did BOTH doors today to fix the damned window rattle. The instructions were perfect, but here are a few more thoughts:
The upper and lower pieces popped out with a bit of strong finger pulling – no prybars required.
It took me a while to figure out where the rubber piece fits that had fallen to the bottom of the door – it goes in the metal channel at the back of the door where the window rides up and down. Duh.
I also glued the door window channel pieces in place, but just at the end of the pieces using the 3M weather stripping adhesive. Used white painter's gloves to avoid making a mess. I added a dab at the end of the front channel rubber pieces just for giggles.
I used a hooked pic to get the door pull cable back on the door handle.
On the driver’s side, I found that the gas cap and trunk latches were easier to push out from the inside, then remove the electrical connectors. They are slotted so that any fool – even me – puts them back correctly.
2 hours, moving slowly and following printed injstructions.
$5.98 for the adhesive. $10 for a set of 4 "mechanics pics" at the local hardware store. $200+ at the dealer?
Thanks Steve H and SAABNET BB!
