I'm still confused what to call this damn thing, but you will know it as the main pulley and weight off the crankshaft.

I had a massive oil leak from behind it and figured from all the posts here that it was the crakshaft seal. Imagine my surprise when I took things apart that it was actually broken.. Cracked inside part where it fits inside and alongside the crankshaft.

I don't want to throw anyone off track, but its interesting to note that this only happened after switching to the short belt. About a month after and only 62k miles exactly on a 2000...

I think there might be more of a reason why saab changed its postion on this belt other than the canned 'vibration' issue.

In other news, I have concluded that this is the worst car saab ever made compared to the c900/9000/9-3's I have previously owned. never ever had so many annoying, expensive, debilitating problems that left me stranded ever.
