Inside door handle broke free Posted by IanC [Email] (#139) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IanC) on Fri, 1 Feb 2002 13:44:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My new (used) hand car is very good, except for some nasty squeaks from the front passenger door. When I checked, the interior door handle (the one you pull on to close it) was not fixed to the door frame, and this was causing the sqeaks, it was also clear that the handle was pulling on the trim everytime it was pulled, rather than the doorframe.
I took the trim off to check, and found that the two bolts through the handles were screwed ok into a threaded sleeve in the metal door frame. Trouble was, the metal sleeves don't seem to have anything to prevent them sliding out of their holes in the metal doorframe.
I was careful not to remove the door moinsture barrier - but there don't be any bolts rattling inside, so nothing seems to have unscrewed inside the door frame.
Anyone have similar experiences or insight?
