The 99 V6 is the first SAAB ive ever owned, but ive had my share of GM experiences. I think the first thing i noticed about there being something GM, was the SID. Any 86-91 Cadillac Seville/Eldorado had an "Information Center", which carried all the functions of the SID and lit up an Orange light on dash, when there was a message! Granted that there are other technology's the on-board systems use to communicate, seem pretty limited to the saab division, which makes it special.
The V6 "L81" engine has been around the block in the various GM divisions, Cadillac, Opel, Saturn..but the SAAB edition has to be the most potent with the turbo and direct ignition. Without the turbo, the Catera and Saturn L series seem lifeless and totally a snooze.
The 9-5 has its own personality and looks that really set it apart from its GM siblings..even though a lot of whats underneath may not be that different. What im really hoping is that the new 9-5 looks nothing like the new Malibu, CTS or Aura! From what i understand its the going to be on the same platform....*sigh*
