I don't plan on doing it.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: ABS Brake module, b455, Wed, 25 Jun 2008 06:55:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Although the car can be driven safely, my concern is with risk of dirt entering the ABS pump/valve assembly. From detailed ABS Module removal photos it appears there are valves or actuators immediately behind the control module that become exposed when the module is removed for service. Wrapping the pump/valve assembly after removal of the module is mandatory, but I am not comfortable driving the car with the control module removed.
My module will be going in later week for repair. I will be driving my wife's 9-3SC, my wife will borrow our son's Chevy Blazer (if needed) that he parked in our garage while he is in Saipan, and the 9-5 will be garaged for the 3 to 5 days until the module returns.
Some folks have rented the cheapest econo-box they can find for driving during the short time period the module is removed. $30/day for 5 days versus $900 for a new pump if it gets damaged by dirt. Arranging rides with friends for one week or less is another option.
