I have done pads 4 times and rotors twice..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Can't get rear brake pads in, Blake, Wed, 25 Jun 2008 04:52:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Pads only - No tricks necessary, but I suggest you pop one cap off a caliper mounting bolt before you start to make sure you have the correct tool to remove the bolts. My car (2000 MY) uses recessed torx bolts for the calipers, some cars use recessed hex bolts.
Pads and rotors - There is not much space to get a socket wrench on the bolts securing the caliper bracket to the hub. My car uses 18mm standard hex head bolts at this location. Again, check yours in advance and have the correct wrench handy. The caliper bracket needs to be removed only if you are replacing the rotors.
Remember - Always remove the small rotor retaining screw and apply a dab of anti-seize before reinserting it. Do this everytime you have the wheels off!
