I've been having a problem with my 2000 9-5 Aero battery/starter system for some time now that has to be addressed, but unfortunately I know nothing. I'm hoping somebody here has successfully dealt with a similar situation, or can in any event suggest what might be going on so I can get it fixed.

Here's what happens:

About 6 times now over the last several years my car has failed to start after going thru a car wash.It starts up fine right before it goes in. They open the doors to vacuum, then put it in neutral to go through the wash. Then, after it's out they crank the car, and it won't start. It has to be jump-started.

Granted opening the doors this long creates strain on the battery, but none or my other cars die there this way. Nor do the vast preponderance of the other vehicles that they treat exactly the same way, or else the line would be stopped all the time by stalled cars.

Last couple times I thought, "maybe if they just do exterior wash and don't vacuum they won't have the doors open for as long so the battery won't die". And I also turned off the auto A/C system. Well guess what, last time it died anyway.

Twice now, after one of these incidents (after the car was jump started, of course) I took my car in to my service station. And both times they said there is nothing wrong with the battery it is fully charged it's working perfectly.

There are two different car washes this has happened at. The only other time my car failed to crank is when I sat in the car listening to the radio for too long, on one occasion. Other than that, the only time I've had a problem starting was after a car wash.

My battery is labeled "Interstate Megatron Plus 85" .It has a brown sticker that says 3/06 . One of the screws holding the battery in has a good bit of corrosion, but the actual contact area doesn't visibly have as much, and the battery generally works otherwise.

So any ideas what the problem is? Is this the wrong sized battery or something? Is there another kind that won't die as fast?

I am too lazy to start hand-washing my car. And besides this just shouldn't be happening.
