Regarding Fuel Pump... Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Tue, 1 Jul 2008 10:13:45 In Reply to: Re: Idle Issue When Stopping, LesH, Tue, 1 Jul 2008 09:59:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm preparing to go on a mini road trip in a couple weeks with my car packed to the brim with stuff and 3 of my friends. My 2001 9-5 with 180k miles is on its original fuel pump, which is loud and whiney/whirring. Laying in bed last night I couldn't stop worrying about my fuel pump crapping out in the middle of upstate NY. I know BobC posted some pictures in his member profile about using an oscilloscope to check the pump. Is this common equipment for a Saab tech? Do you think my indy would be able to tell me if it's about to munch itself? I don't really want to blow $500+ on a fuel pump on a hunch, but it would make me feel a helluva lot better. Whenever I have low fuel, a couple gallons in the tank, it will sometimes crank and crank for a long time and finally catch. It did this yesterday morning. Thanks in advance.
