Normally you can't move the lever unless your foot is on the brake (or you have inserted a key into the emergency release hole on the console), so I don't see how it's going to drop out of park by itself.
There was a rash of (I think) Fords doing this a decade or two back, but that was in the days before the brake interlock was federally mandated. Now anything can happen, but for this to happen, either the shifting cable is grossly out of adjustment, or the interlock and detent mechanisms have been significantly damaged. Perhaps if all the motor mounts are busted, the engine could have shifted enough to affect the shift cable alignment.
How old? How many miles?
