Hi, I had my 98 9-5 at 100,575kms transmission replaced last November the independent transmission specialist It took about three weeks as they had other BMW, Saab ect.. as well to work on they ended up reconditioning my tranny and even installed a new crankshft oil seal between the engine & transmission. I was gettin PO743 (Torque Converter Clutch) car not moving when it is in drive.
They had to drop the sub frame, remove both C.V joints inners & outers obviously the trans frame mount under the battery tray and transmission oil hoses, electrical cables connectors. Their is a few more other items as well as I only went to the trans shop two weeks during the repair. The transmission will drop down on its own without removing the engine.
I was able to take a few photos (can't find them on my H.D.D now)when standing under the car host. Cost wise about $4,700.00 thats in Australian dollars with 40,000 kms /2yr warranty from the shop. I also had purchased vehicle protection plan when I got the car to lower the financial burdon these Saabs tag along with. Cars running great at 116,777kms to date.
My list of replacemets to date:
* New PCV oil vent hoses & drilled the 10mm hole in the crankvent oilbox
In the second port opening the original spec had a 3mm hole.
* New fuel pump, serp belt & x3 plastic pulleys
* New I.D.M, x4 sparks plugs, vacuum hoses, orginal-tranny reconditioned
* cleaned T.B., retorque head bolts, transmission rubber mount under bat
tray.
It keeps you busy.
All the best
