You didn't mention how many miles are on your current car, so I can't give you a straight-up keep it or dump it answer. I have a 2001 SE sedan though, which is basically the same car, and above 150k miles the thing is an absolute nightmare. It's been serviced by a dealer or a reputable Saab shop all it's life, and has been very well taken care of, but I can't get through a week without having something flake out on me anymore. I bought it back in 2006 with 159k miles on it for $5k. BIG mistake. It was very well behaved for the first year and a half. Then the turbo finally kicked the bucket. That was $1500. Then I had to do all the timing belt and tensionsers and stuff and while it was in there they found the transmission mount was split in half. There's another $1200. Then there's just been a ton of piddly annoying things going wrong with it. Like suspension stuff, the entire PCV setup needing to be replaced because it was plugged up with oil, CPS, A/C leaking, temp sensor. It still runs hot and I think it needs a $400 thermostat. The valve cover is leaking oil around the oil fill cap. And then just this past weekend I go out and there's no A/C blowing. Turns out my SAI pump bit the dust and was blowing the fuse it shares with the cabin fan. One of the SAI check valves seems to be exhibiting signs of failure so I think exhaust gases and moisture got to the pump and pissed it off. The moral of the story is I've spent way more than what I paid for the car just to maintain it over 2.5 years. I can't wait to get rid of this thing, but I do love the way it looks, feels, and drives when it runs well. So I will definitely be getting another 9-5, but it will of course be a 2004+. Any car is going to have issues at 180k miles, and mine was pretty good up till now, but I can't take it anymore!
