christmas tree light syndrome--long

My 2000 9-5SE wagon has started exhibiting the "christmas tree light syndrome", where, for no apparent reason, the warning lights on the instrument panel light up (and stay on), the warning bonger bongs intermittently and the speedometer ceases to function. I searched the board and found that this has happened to others. It seems like most of the time rebuilding the abs computer fixes the problem, but on numerous occassions, all that was needed was to replace a rear abs sensor. I would be interested in knowing if the people here who had this problem and fixed it by replacing the sensor (or rebuilding the abs computer) had a recurrence of the problem after "fixing" it. I know the smart thing to do would be to get it tested by someone with a tech2, but I don't know a good indy and the dealer is way too expensive. I am thinking of first replacing the battery, as in the past I have found that to be cause of strange electrical problems and then, if that fails, sending the abs computer out for a rebuild.
