Vehicle: 2001 LPT Wagon, automatic, with ~136,000 miles

This past 2 years I have "tolerated" issues with my ACC system, the moaning of the expansion valve, and the noisy clutch of the a/c compressor....this spring, I had the annual "top-off" of refrigerant.....but, as you have pointed out, I never got the 10 bars out of 10 from the cabin fan in recent memory, even after having parked the car in the sun for several hours.

Last week, I did an ac overhaul with my indie. I replaced the ac compressor with a "newer" one from Goldwing. In addition, I replaced the expansion valve and receiver/dryer/filter. Refrigerant oil (PAG ? oil, I think it's called) was added (of course) and refrigerant refilled to specs.

Note: the cabin fan is still the original one installed at the factory, and has never been removed for any type of servicing (brushes, etc).

The ACC system NOW works absolutely perfectly. Cools (Auto mode) 10 bars out of 10 with recirc popping on, today. on a 83 degree afternoon, parked in full sun for 3+ hours....cooled right down to the requested 74 degree inside temp.

Works SWEET !!

My point is you may need a professional servicing of your ACC....you may not need any/all of the parts I installed, but recovery/vacuum test, and reinstall refrigerant COULD be the answer.

I hope this helps your decision.
