Folks tend to buy used or CPO cars at the peak of their value, 2-4 years old and still in warranty and still reasonable miles, that magic 20-30-40k miles zone. Then they wanna' sell them with 77k miles and no warranty and wind up with negative equity.
The point being that you coulda' had a new car for the same depreciation as a used or CPO. That is that if youda' gotten a good deal new and traded in at the peak of the used value, say 3 years and 36,000 miles, it would of cost you less overall than buying at the 3 year 36k mile mark and selling at 72k or 77k after the warranty expires.
So for the same total money you coulda'a had a new car.
