... a chubby-cheeked Asian chipmunk. The Acuras have this look, and I'm not crazy about it. It's the kind of look that you might get tired of looking at out in the driveway. I think what bugs me about it is that it looks cartoony. And I don't think it goes well with the high hipline, small greenhouse design style which is classic, but always seems to pose a front-end design challenge.
The Chevy Malibu -- platform bro to the 9-3 -- has a high hipline and it looks like the designers decided to play it conservative when it came to the front. They only had a couple feet to get the line down and blending into grille and headlights. The 9-5 design shown looks like the designers of the front weren't speaking to anybody else.
The 9-5s have always had a high cowl which gives drivers the sense of being surrounded by a cockpit. But there is also plenty of glass so it's not like you're peering out.
I guess I just don't like designs that are too designy. JMHO.
