Short belt versus Long Belt on 2.3L

I switched the serpentine drive belt back to the long one in my 2002 9-5 linear 2.3t. Switched it out at 55K when the water pump was replaced. The short belt was fine for a while, then it stared to get noisey. Went back to the long belt at 62K.
When my brother ordered the belt for me, his info was showing that Saab was now recomending going back to the long belt.
So if you are considering replacing your serpentine drive belt, stay with the long one.
