Last nite I spent some time and installed the new Nokia CK-7W kit ($13.95 on Ebay) into my 99 9-5. The install procedure is the same for the Nokia CK-20W kit too.
Obviously I had the GenSaab Tel adaptor cable ($5 on ebay).
To install everything I had to pull the SID, Radio and double Din cage, and the AC/heat unit. The connector was light blue and red in my case and connect to the back of the wall. I used the instructions on the net (there are several sites, include the Plantoff site) to wire up the 3.5mm connector to the 12V wires.
Wired it to the CK-7W main brain. This is just matching wires to their designated role (manual has the wiring diagram laid out). Zip ties kept all the wires clean. A good place to stick the 'brain unit' is in the kick panel beside the center console (close to the area where the cabin filter is located. Theres plenty of space in this area and its behind the carpet so its stealthy.
I pulled the Nokia on/off dial-button thingy to the 2 empty buttons beside the radio (where TCS or ESP is). Double sided tape and its mounted. Pulled the phone connector out via one of the blanks beside the chair heat buttons. I cut a small hole out of the blank to allow for the wire to come through.
I could have used the onboard mic, but I haven't had good resolution with the onboard mic in the other car. In this case I pulled out the glove box, ran the wire behind the glove compartment, up through the speaker channel, up the A-pillar (zip tied to the wiring harness that runs up the A-pillar). Then ran it up under the head-liner. At the ceiling console, I pulled the microphone grill out, cut out a small hole and pulled the wire through and adhered the supplied Nokia microphone to the outside of the built in mic grill.
Redid the carpet by the center of the footwell. Everything looks 'hidden'.
Challenges: 1) Big hands, small spaces: nuff said. I've got some battle wounds. Thats ok, cause chicks dig scars.
2) 2.5mm mic jack is loose in the microphone jack: Took some jiggling to get this to work. I had to pull the carpet back, try the connection to see that I could get the mic working, then I ended up zip-tieing it in place. Works fine right now. Is there a better fix for this???
3) Phone 'searching for signal' gives the speaker 'chatter': anyone know how to get around this?
4) With hardwire connection to Nokia phone, it seems like Bluetooth isn't working. I have to RTFM to see if I can figure this out.
I'll try and add photos if anyone is interested.
