I have a quick question re: the code 08 ventilation blender door problem (i.e. the one where hot air is obtained only on the passenger side, not the drivers side in the winter). My understanding is that Saab recommends a complete fix which is expensive because of the labor involved (about 1000 since they remove the dash). As an alternative, in some cases, there are kits available which will fix it less expensively (about 100 - 500 depending if you do it yourself or get an independent mechanic to do it).

My question is whether there something even easier where you say, sacrifice having two separately heated compartments and somehow route the hot air from the passenger side to both the drivers and passenger side?

Would anyone recommend this? My guess is no but it is probably better to ask. I see the winter approaching and wish to know my alternatives before I get frostbite.
