Third belt in a week? There's something wrong with this picture.
Kinda makes you wonder if they know how to do the job. Or maybe he used some cheap aftermarket pulleys that don't fit and cause the belt to move a. Hard to know. Doing the belt is not a hard job, just a PITA, especially if you use the long belt. But you weren't doing that on the first go-round.
What also bothers me is that the guy said it's OK to drive the car without the belt. He should know the water pump is driven by the belt and that driving it will cause overheating. Makes me question his knowledge and skills.
There are a number of good Saab indys in the Boston area. If the oil leak is a result of the belt failure and this guy won't fix it, get your car away from him and go to one of the good ones. It'll cost you money, but your car will work again.
