G'morning folks!

Thanks in advance for all of the great tips/tricks/advice on this site, I'll be using the search feature religiously.

I'm a new, happy owner of a 2003 9-5 Linear wagon (auto) just purchased with 88k on it (one previous owner, well maintained at same dealer). Merlot exterior and beige interior seems to be a nice combo.

I traded in a '94 4Runner with 253k on it, despite the swiss cheese exhaust and rusted through body in multiple locations, it was a heckuva truck. It had original everything, even the clutch. Fantastic in the snow. I want the saab to live as long.

I hope to get the same reliabilty, excellent safety performance in the snow (tires matter, I know) as I did in the 4Runner. I turn my own minor wrench, but not for the big things.

We had a 2001 9-3 that was a bit of a nightmare (fuel line blew off while driving, turbo went out, etc), the 9-5 appears to be in a different league altogether. Fingers crossed here.

Biggest suprise so far: avg 38 mpg on a 30 mile country highway drive home from the dealer. My truck wasn't bad at 20mpg....the gas savings will just about pay for the car itself :) I've got a daily commute of 100 miles for work.

Odd things noticed: No onstar buttons....blank button below the ECS. I thought it came on all 2003's.

The dealer claimed the 90k service was done when the car was put on the lot...except for new plugs, so those were thrown in. It's mostly inspection anyway *shrug*

Cars that were close (all 2003s): Volvo s60 (nice fit/finish but more $$), Infiniti i35 (cheaper plastic on interior I think...awful door handles), lexus e330 (bit too pricey in high teens). The saab had more soul. A tech I spoke to was great, worked on all of them and loved the 9-5's (NOT the 9-3s).

That's it, thanks again and glad to be here. I plan on seafoaming the beast soon and will do a full synthetic at the next oil change (older Irish tech said "Aye, Mobile 1 only and she'll be right, nuddin' else...and donna mess with the transmission fluid!". I have some minor leather repair to do and some exterior buffing with a light compound for blemishes left behind from parking lot doors. An xm antenna system will need to be removed and the SID is awful with the pixel problem, that's a priority too.

Hitting the search function now, take care!
