What nobody told you was how to set the lights to get what are at least in the rest of the world called City Lights. What this gives you is the parking lights and the small 5(?) bulb in the headlight housing for your DHLs instead of the headlights. What you do is have your favorite Saab mechanic use his Tech II programmer to set the headlights to Option 1 (they are currently on Option 3). While you are at it, you might want to set the fog lights to Option 1 also, this allows them to work with the city lights in the middle position and with the high beams (the latter is useless and isn't legal in the U.S. but the odds of getting caught are minimal).
The nice thing about this is how much longer the headlight bulbs last. I replaced the bulbs a year or so after I got my 9-5 in 2000, then I started using the City Lights for my DRLs and I don't remember replacing the bulbs since.
Brooks,
