Compression test will not reveal anything as far as a miniscule leakage between head and block into the cooling chamber.
You see, since the rise of pressure is so slow and over a period of time, it might just be the slightest warpage of head that creates this.
If the head would be warped majorly, you would get coolant squirting out through the expansion tank in time with the combustion strokes.
Maybe but but 100% sure, even if you would to put a pressure tester on the cooling system you might not even see coolant seeping into the combustion chamber.
The combustion explosion is so much more powerful that it could easily push exhaust gasses past the head gasket even if coolant is not pushed the other way when pressure checking.
